Be selective with your battles

Having control over your own life while learning to let go

While we live in a society where the majority of people has the priceless chance not to fight for survival and physical needs, the main concern of humanity is to be happy and to have a meaningful life. We are rich of choices, no excuses. Remaining passive is already a decision. Undergoing what comes on our path without questioning much is probably not the best solution for our own sake. What is part of our life is not necessarily meant to be. What seems to be normal can make us suffer or simply not be the best fit for us. Therefore, we can decide to be proactive and take control. Experiencing and challenging ourself is crucial to grow and eventually be self-fulfilled. It is not a destination but rather a journey and a demanding process as well. Nobody will do it for us. We deserve the best so it is our duty to shape our life according to who we are and our values. It requires self-awareness and willingness to go the extra mile but it is worth it. It is better to be at the bottom of the ladder you want to climb than the top of one you do not.

Facing our fears and shadow areas is painful and not a natural process. Humans might tend to run away from them or simply ignore them. Confronting them is a decision that needs to be made if we want to carry on peacefully. Usually, it is really hard to look ourself in the mirror. Some people just cannot stand it. However, it is the only way to fix or improve things in our life. The grass is green where we water it. Our life do not get better by chance but by change. It may seem like an insurmountable mountain sometimes. Nevertheless, by being well-equipped with determination or also with external help, after overcoming a challenge or just taking a step forward, we can notice that such victories are worth the investment.

We are human beings, not robots. Falling is part of our journey. If everything would be so linear, life would be boring. Furthermore, there are things we just cannot control and overthinking does not help as it prevents us from the present moment. When shit hits the fan, it is usually easier to hold on or to be revolted by what happened. However, accepting that we do not have the power to change people or situations is key. Embracing our emotions, following our guts, moving on — it is important to stop investing energy on unchangeable circumstances. If it even costs our peace, it is too expensive. Thus, the most efficient way to alter external conditions is usually to work on ourself, not the other way around.
